Primary Objective:

The Service Quality Engineer is responsible for preparing and ensuring all outbound Service shipments are packaged and labeled correctly so the shipment arrives at the customer site undamaged.  The Service Quality Engineer is also responsible for taking field and customer feedback on damaged shipments, record quality notifications and drive continuous improvement in our packaging processes.


Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Perform quality inspections on outbound Service materials for both intercompany and retail shipments.  This includes quality in workmanship along with ensuring what is on the Bill of Materials matches what is contained in the shipment.   Record data and communicate inspection results to stakeholders.
  • Conduct investigations of non-conforming materials (NCM), work with stakeholders to reach agreement on usage decision, document usage decisions and coordinate related tasks to ensure timely disposition of NCM and minimize process down time.
  • Acts as the single point of contact for material defects found in the field.  Uses established Quality Notification process to enter QN’s into the quality system.
  • Coordinate containment efforts of non-conforming product to ensure that known quality risks are under control.
  • Participate in the Corrective Action Process as subject matter expert in inspection and containment of nonconforming materials.
  • Support overall quality strategy by assisting in the creation or revision of packaging standards, quality inspection plans, inspection standards and guidelines, nonconforming material procedures.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the nonconforming material process through regular monitoring of NCM process metrics and analysis of data.
  • Support culture of excellence and learning by adopting and sharing best practices.



  • Vo-Tech Certificate or Associate Degree and 3 years applicable experience in a related environment OR High School Diploma plus 7 years applicable expereicne in a related environment 
  • Experienced with elements in SAP Quality Module and other related components, such as inspection lots, inspection plans, quality notifications, material information and status in inventory, purchasing systems, and engineering change systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process, Quality Management System (ISO9001). Ability to interact with and align cross-functional stakeholders to meet objectives of non-conforming material process.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in working with a variety of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, profilometers, surface plates, dial indicators, bore gauges, optical comparators, and depth micrometers.
  • Quality Technician certification preferred.
