Primary Objective:
To act as an authorized agent of the company by making purchase commitments that meet company requirements at the best value and managing supplier performance.


Major Areas of Accountability:

1) Issues purchase orders including schedule line agreements and blanket orders to meet company demand for materials and services ensuring all requirements, pricing, terms and conditions and expectations are clearly documented. Manages exception messages by expediting, delaying or canceling orders as required.

2) Maintains master data in the ERP system for Info Records, Routes, Material Masters etc., determines MRP system settings to optimize inventory, varying from MRP recommendations based on established variance guidelines and resolves system reconciliation issues such as invoice and receiving discrepancies.

3) Supports internal customers by providing information on purchasing processes, products and suppliers, mitigates problems by understanding customer requirements, anticipates issues and provides value in resolving supplier and purchased product related issues.

4) Manages supplier performance by addressing day-to-day issues such as rejections, quality issues and supplier requested schedule changes ensuring SAP system is accurate. Supports supplier performance review meetings.

5) Supports strategic sourcing by assisting with analysis of supplier performance, pricing trends, market and business opportunities/constraints.

6) Develops and applies technical knowledge of products assigned for purchase to add value into purchasing functions.

7) Other accountabilities as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of purchasing experience.

- OR in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 8 years of continually advancing experience in a manufacturing, technical or business environment plus 3 years of purchasing experience. Total experience of at least 11 years without a Bachelor’s degree.
