Primary Objective:

The Scrum Master is responsible for scheduling and facilitating all scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand ups, reviews, retrospectives, and demonstrations.  This role facilitates the scheduling and sequencing of development tasks.  The Scrum Master will work closely with the Product Manager and Product Owner on maintaining a groomed backlog of development work items, while also removing roadblocks so that the development team can turn a backlog of requirements into a working product. 

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Coordinate and facilitate scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and demonstrations.
  2. Maintain and communicate key metrics including team velocity, sprint, and release status.
  3. Identify and remove obstacles that may interfere with the ability of the team to deliver its goals.
  4. Foster a collaborative team environment; enable creativity and innovation.
  5. Provide leadership as mentor and coach for others on agile principles and development methodology.
  6. Act as a leader of the software team on day to day operations as well as provide leadership throughout the product development process.
  7. Work with software development team to manage the execution of the prioritized backlog items.
  8. Collaborate with Product Owner and Product Manager to understand key business objectives and strategy of the product and communicate to the team.

Design and maintain development tools and processes to maximize productivity.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical degree

Experience

  • 5 years of previous experience in Agile/Scrum software development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and execute on a business strategy
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and leadership skills
