Primary Objective:

Quality technicians are responsible for conducting quality  inspections and nonconforming material procedures to ensure that materials & products comply with quality standards.


Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Perform quality inspections on incoming, in-process, or outbound materials based on established inspection standards and tools.  Record data and communicate inspection results to stakeholders.
  • Conduct investigations of non-conforming materials (NCM), work with stakeholders to reach agreement on usage decision, document usage decisions and coordinate related tasks to ensure timely disposition of NCM and minimize process down time.
  • Coordinate containment efforts to ensure that known quality risks are under control.
  • Participate in the Corrective Action Process as subject matter expert in inspection and containment of nonconforming materials.
  • Support overall quality control strategy by assisting in the creation or revision of quality inspection plans, inspection standards and guidelines, nonconforming material procedures.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the nonconforming material process through regular monitoring of  NCM process metrics and analysis of data.
  • Support culture of excellence and  learning by adopting and sharing best practices.



  • Conduct investigations of non-conforming materials (NCM).
  • Work with stakeholders to reach agreement on usage decision for NCM.
  • Document usage decisions for NCM and coordinate related tasks in SAP.
  • Participate in the Corrective Action Process.
  • Perform quality inspections.
  • Share and adopt best practices.
  • Organize and coordinate containment activities for NCM.
  • Monitor NCM process metrics and analyze data to determine opportunity to improve process performance.


Authority and Autonomy:

  • Prioritize workloads to ensure timely resolution of non-conforming materials to keep production running.
  • Select and connect with as many stakeholders as needed to efficiently process NCM issues.
  • Select and connect with as many stakeholders as needed to efficiently carry out containment activities.



  • Vo-Tech Certificate or Associate Degree, and minimum of 5 years applicable experience in related environment, with at least 2 years in Quality
  • OR High School Diploma plus 9 years of applicable experience in related environment, with at least 2 years in Quality.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes. Quality Management System (ISO9001) knowledge/experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact with and align cross-functional stakeholders to meet objectives of non-conforming material process.
  • Experience in working with a variety of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, profilometers, surface plates, dial indicators, bore gauges, optical comparators, and depth micrometers.
  • Operational and programming experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM.) Experience with Faro Arm and Calypso software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Geomertric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with elements in SAP Quality Module and other related components, such as inspection lots, inspection plans, quality notifications, material information and status in inventory, purchasing systems, and engineering change systems.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use an overhead crane.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%)
  • Quality Technician certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
