Primary objective: 

Plan, drive and implement projects that will enable MTS to accomplish its business mission and objectives. Accountable for the successful completion of Development Programs.  This includes schedule, budget and performance.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Develop a sound organizational plan for each assigned project.
    • Develops realistic but challenging project plans, schedules and budgets for each assigned project. 
    • Responsible to produce project deliverables within schedule and budget requirements. 
    • Monitors work in progress to ensure quality and engineering standards are met and that designs are effective through the entire process; approves changes to designs or schedules as necessary. 
    • Tracks risks to identify trends and determine cost-effective ways to eliminate root causes.
    • Ensures that engineering team members are informed of the progress.
    • Gain commitments from team members and holds them accountable.
  2. Participates as a leader and a team member, inspiring and guiding others, supporting and encouraging co-workers toward common goals:  Works to maintain a positive environment within the group and with other functional support groups.  Values and integrates the ideas of others.  Understands and respects others’ abilities and make decisions with the best interests of the team and MTS in mind.  Builds a strong team.
  3. Ensures that the company’s needs and interests are met by the project-related contracts into which it enters.
  4. Manages day-to-day activities.   Facilitates technical problem solving by ensuring processes and methods are in place to identify technical problems early and to determine appropriate action to solve technical problems.
  5. Responds in a timely manner, meet commitments. 
  6. Provides regular program reporting

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively demanding project management experience
  • Previous experience successfully managing multiple projects within a similar size volume/revenue, including developing project schedules, financial tracking and reporting, and allocating/directing resources for various phases of projects

Competencies

 

  • Must have demonstrated the ability to drive change and continuous improvement across a broad level/scope.
  • Ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional teams, and build consensus among a large group.
  • Proven ability to successfully solve complex business and technical problems.
  • Working knowledge of industry engineering standards, practices, and regulations.

 

Travel Requirements

  • This is a global role with expected travel averaging 35%, domestic and international
