Primary Objective:
A contracts professional leading internal teams to resolve contractual issues. Perform pre-award and post-award review of contractual terms and conditions to ensure protection of company interests. Partner with the business in negotiating new contracts and supporting changes to existing agreements. Monitor contracts throughout their lifecycle to ensure contractual obligations are communicated to and understood by the internal team. Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.

 

Major Areas of Accountability:
1. Review and manage pre-award and post-award contract documents to monitor adherence to contract terms and conditions to ensure uniform application of corporate policies and procedures
• Identify contractual responsibilities of each functional department
• Provide contract interpretation and communicate necessary information to key personnel to ensure communications are maintained for timely contract execution by the parties
• Identify and resolve problems concerning terms of sale, scope of work, contract clauses & requirements and terms of payment
• Review and recommend changes to contract terms and conditions to protect the interests of the corporation
• Ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached in final negotiations
• Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle to ensure adherence to terms, and lead change management activities internally with project team members and externally with customers and suppliers
• Act as a resource to internal teams on matters related to contracting
• Participate in contract negotiations with customers, as required

2. Assist in maintenance of existing and creation of new contract management processes, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliant and efficient administration of contracts
• Partner with several internal teams in management of company’s contracting matters
• Lead process improvement initiatives directly related to contract management practices
• Perform internal audits of contracting processes to identify risks and ensure compliance
• Gather and prepare KPI’s related to contractual topics

3. Provide inputs related to best business practices for administration of contracts to internal teams to create new and efficient processes, procedures, and controls
• Consult and lead teams on preferred terms and conditions of sale and acceptable alternatives
• Partner with teams to provide guidance to manage and mitigate financial and commercial risks throughout the lifecycle of the contract
• Provide training and subject matter expertise for internal teams in contract management practices
• Serve as a primary contact for all contractual matters
• Provide management oversight to ensure acceptable forms of contracts and approval documents are included in accordance with required risk and compliance reviews (i.e. FCPA, Global Trade, etc.)

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or International Business

Experience
• 7 Years of related experience

Travel Requirements
• Expected travel less than 5%, domestic and international

Preferred Qualifications:
Education
• Master’s Degree preferred in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or International Business

Experience

  • Effective communication skills to consult on and resolve contract and business risk issues with business leaders.
  • Experience in reviewing business contracts and recommending terms and conditions to mitigate business risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic team environment, across all areas of middle management.
  • Ability to focus on operational details during execution, while thinking strategically about business impact and process improvement needs.
  • Ability to collaborate with as well as influence internal partners and build relationships across MTS offices worldwide.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic and international terms of delivery - Incoterms® and UCC
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Uniform Commercial Practice for Documentary Credit (UCP), Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), Global Trade and Export Compliance
  • An understanding of the US Government Acquisition and Procurement environment including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) and other government regulations.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
