Primary Objective

Responsible for designing and maintaining software used by MTS Sensors Division and Sensors Technology and programming in C, JAVA, C++ and C#.

Supports the software that is used in MTS products and in the equipment for Sustaining Engineering and MTS products.  This work is done to help support the R&D department test and develop their products and is done under direct supervision.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: A two-year degree in a related field OR certifications for at least one required programming language OR at least one year of experience as a software development intern or similar position.

 
Duties and Tasks: Proven Experience programming in C, JAVA, C++ and C#. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make technical decisions. Ability to exercise sound judgement to solve problems and make recommendations. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions and technical documentation.

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee also needs good hand eye coordination, good manual dexterity as well as the ability to use light hand tools, fine motor skills, calculator, fax, and photocopier equipment.

Major Areas of Accountability:

 

  • Design software solutions in support of Sustaining Engineering or other product used by MTS Sensors Group Division and Sensors Technology.
  • Generate software modules for use by MTS Sensors Division and Sensors Technology.
  • Generate drivers for smart sensors to be used in products and Sustaining Engineering.
  • Assist Engineers with software problems. Troubleshoots and analyzes technical problems and recommends possible solutions.
  • Must be capable of working on electromechanical systems, designing, and writing control software.
  • Carries out assigned software updates and improvement tasks, while meeting established specifications and product goals.  Proposes software enhancements and solutions.  Improves MTS product cost effectiveness, performance, installation, and servicing.  Maintains and improves software in MTS products.
  • Supports assigned products by solving problems weighing alternatives and selecting the approach   yielding the most favorable overall impact.
  • Interacts with other departments as required to provide technical support.
  • Ensures that technical documentation is accurate and updated for assigned projects.
  • Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of ISO 9001 as it relates to area of responsibility     and the organization.  Follows all standard-operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.
