Primary Objective:
Design and prepare packaging on the spot that conveys an impression of the company to the end customer, utilizing the options provided in the manufacturing instructions. Ships outbound product in an accurate, efficient and economical manner to customers in compliance with customer preferences, internal, federal and international shipping guidelines.  Guide and train new team members on manufacturing work instructions along with the most effective packaging standards for our current customer base.

Major Areas of Accountability:

 

  1. Prepares product for packaging and shipping
    1. Checks customer order and model numbers against packing list to ensure proper models and quantities are shipped to correct customers.
    2. Uses packaging and shipping processes which may include verifying product against travelers, following shipping checklists for each shipment, weighing, package forming, product inlay, labeling, strapping, pulling packing slips and small parcel scheduling in clippership.
    3. Ensures quality control by addressing labels and carrier information to packages to ensure timely and proper delivery to customers.
    4. Utilizes established methods of packaging and packages the product to specification designed by MTS Manufacturing Instructions and known customer requirements. 
    5. Independently uses Clippership for domestic and international shipments.
    6. Inputs data into ERP computer system to generate packing slips including serial numbers, model numbers,
    7. Works with Logistics Specialist to ensure proper paperwork is generated to accurately process outbound shipments in accordance to export compliance rules

 

  1. Supports On Time Delivery
    1. Assist the Shipping & Packaging Lead with verifying and picking products from lines to be packed in enough time to support OTD to MTS customers
    2. Reviews shipping schedule to ensure delayed orders, ready to ship orders, and expedite orders are processed based on priority set by Sr. Packaging Specialist, Cell Lead, or Manager
    3. Maintains strict packaging time cutoff for international carrier arrangements to be made by logistics team.
    4. When needed, helps logistics and receiving load and receive trucks to expedite inbound and outbound functions. 
    5. Performs a daily inventory check on all packaging supplies and places the order with our vendor 3 or more times a week to ensure proper levels of packaging supplies are kept onsite at MTS to support OTD.

 

  1. Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of ISO 9001 as it relates to area of responsibility and the organization. 
    1. Follows all standard operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.
    2. Assists in outbound procedure creation, updates, and requests using ISO and quality policy guidelines. 
  2. Trains new team members on:
    1. Packaging standards for the department to ensure customers get the best packaging at the lowest cost to the customer
    2. Complex MTS Sensor Part Number Configuration
    3. Obtaining forklift operator certification.
  3. Drives Process Improvement Initiatives:
    1. Assists with maintain shipping metrics to help drive efficiencies within the shipping team.
    2. Responsible in assisting with brainstorming Root Cause Corrective Actions for Customer Complaints
    3. Participates in team process improvement activities and efforts to improve packaging design, process flow, communication, flexibility, efficiency and customer responsiveness. Notifies lead or supervisor of any unsafe practices or changes that aren’t working or could be improved.

 

  1. Performs miscellaneous duties and special assignments when required to support team when workload balance shifts to include substituting for other packaging personnel or cross training throughout the shipping and logistic departments as required; some activities may include:
    1. Provide support for repackaging of incoming material for reconsolidations.
    2. Work with receiving to help move and store packaging material into the shipping department.
    3. Other tasks deemed needed by either the Packaging Lead or Supervisor.

 

  1. Maintains good housekeeping practices to facilitate orderly, safe, and efficient operations.

 

Qualifications:

Education

 

High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Experience

 

  • One-year experience in a domestic and international shipping environment preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to operate applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and basic functions of the company’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
  • Above average math skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Time Management skills required
  • Ability to work individually and as a team when needed
